I finished "The Fault In Our Stars". What a beautiful, inspiring book it was! I was totally captivated by the characters and their journey, it was so sad to read Augustus' end.
So in short, I cried. A lot. I loved how it wasn't your average cancer story, or any illness for that matter. The author, John Green, added some really awesome comedic aspects to it which really made the story more real, I think. It wasn't totally depressing and so that helps the audience to connect with the characters more as I think some people with illnesses wouldn't see all of their life as totally sad.
But I was left with a lot of unanswered questions after finishing the book (almost as the character Hazel Grace was when she read her favorite book "An Imperial Affliction" which actually turned out to be a made up book by the author of The Fault In Our Stars). I wanted to know about what happens to Hazel, if Isaac ever got back with Monica and what becomes of Hazel's parents and Augustus' parents.
I guess I'll have to pull a Hazel and find a way of contacting the author, haha! But anyway, I definitely recommend this book so make sure to buy it. You will NOT regret it.
As for my favorite parts, I had several. I loved it when Hazel, Augustus and Isaac threw eggs at Monica's car. I liked all the cute romantic scenes with Hazel and Augustus. I liked how Augustus's dad said "our children are weird" when Hazel's parents went over for dinner. I thought the part where Augustus and Hazel were selling Hazel's old swing set was pretty hilarious. I liked the bit where Augustus made his own funeral and had Isaac and Hazel say something for him. That was a pretty sad part though and I just can't stop thinking about this book.
It truly is amazing :)
But I hear they're making a movie of it... Not sure what to think. I've seen an image of the girl cast as Hazel and she looks pretty good for the part. I'm glad she's not some famous young Hollywood actress that I've heard of and is instead a new fresh face. Although apparently she's won like a Golden Globe (or been nominated for, I'm not sure) before, among other awards, so she must be pretty talented. I really hope they get the casting right for Augustus and also for Hazel's parents. I loved her parents! I pray that this movie adaptation does not suck and lives up to the wonderful book written by this incredible author.
I just bought "Divergent" and it's sequel "Insurgent" written by Veronica Roth. I'm so obsessed with books lately. I mean , I always have been but this is a whole new level like some crazy addiction that I cannot overcome. Going to start reading it now and I'll discuss as I read it in future blogposts. The final review will be posted once I have read the first book and a second review after I finish the second. Can't wait to see what the fuss about these books is all about!
