Like I said yesterday there was little chance of me going back to college today as I had zero sleep. I had to lie on the hard floor of my bedroom with my pillows and quilt which didn't make for a peaceful night. I actually have a sore on my right elbow given to me by the floor which has been hurting quite a bit today. Guess it's just the way I sleep.
Basically what happened to my bed is it was pushing in like it was going to fall through. So me and my mum went out this morning to a local store which my mum thought sold beds. Turns out they didn't, it was more of an appliances place. So now I have to look online for one.
On a lighter note, the boiler is getting replaced and fixed tomorrow, so we will have hot water, central heating as again. Thank God!
I also managed to find a good quality upload of Silver Linings Playbook on YouTube. I wasn't quite happy with how they changed a lot of the story and it's structure. The book was better. However, if you're looking at the movie as a whole and ignoring that, then it was very good and I enjoyed it.
Jennifer Lawrence's performance really stood out! Yeah she's like my role model and think she amazing but that does not change my opinion. Her acting was incredible and emotional regardless. She was definitely desrrving of the Oscar she won for the role. I respect Robert De Niro very much and think he's a superb actor, although the changes with his character bothered me most, I think. In the book his character, Patrick, ignores his son Pat for a lot of the time and takes little interest in what he does. Whereas in the movie, De Niro played a loving and concerned father that did the opposite and interacted and communicated with his son a lot. I also didn't understand why they had to change the name of Pat's mum. In the book it is Jeanie, in the movie it's Dolores. Another pointless change. Anyway that was just something small that I'd noticed and couldn't stop thinking about. Another one of the big changes was how the characters Nikki (who was being posed as by the character Tiffany) and Pat didn't exchange many letters. Pat also didn't seem to mind that much that Tiffany had lied to him, whereas in the book he was distraught.
Don't let my rant with the changes made in the movie discourage you from watching the movie, though. Whether you have or haven't read the book, or like/dislike the changes, it is still an inspiring, funny and very real movie. It addresses the issue of the stigma people give people with mental illnesses and that things need to change. People need to understand the situation before making harsh judgements and giving people labels.
Now I shall go make up for all the sleep I lost last night. Goodnight everybody!
